About the job
1. Position Summary
We are looking for a talented Legal Clerk to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assisting with operations coordination, tracking, and execution in addition to general office administration and management. This position requires a high level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. This position offers an excellent opportunity for growth and professional development in the fields of operations, administration, and office management.

2. Duties & Key Responsibilities
Legal Research:

  • Conducting detailed research on legal issues, precedents, and case law.
  • Compiling and summarizing legal information and findings.

Drafting Documents:

  • Preparing legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts.
  • Assisting in drafting opinions and memos for lawyers and judges.

Case Management:

  • Organizing and maintaining case files and legal documents.
  • Tracking case status and deadlines to ensure timely submissions.

Courtroom Assistance:

  • Assisting lawyers in court proceedings by organizing exhibits and evidence.
  • Taking notes during trials and hearings.

Client Interaction:

  • Communicating with clients to gather necessary information.
  • Answering client inquiries under the supervision of a lawyer.

Administrative Support:

  • Managing schedules and appointments for lawyers.
  • Handling correspondence, filing, and other administrative tasks.

3. Requirements for a Legal Clerk

Education:

  • HND or Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in research databases.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a legal environment, such as internships or assistant roles, is often preferred.
  • Knowledge of court procedures and legal terminology.

Personal Attributes:

  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.

Have a valid driver’s license

  • Must have driven for at least 3 years
